SUMMERSIDE, PE - The City of Summerside is thrilled to announce that legendary Canadian band Blue Rodeo will headline this year’s Canada Day celebrations with a free concert on the Summerside Waterfront.
This exciting announcement was made today by Mayor Dan Kutcher, alongside key partners from the Government of Canada and the Province of Prince Edward Island. Mayor Kutcher was also joined by members of Summerside City Council, whose continued support has been instrumental in making this event possible.
“For over 40 years, Blue Rodeo has been a cornerstone of Canadian music,” said Mayor Kutcher. “With more than four million albums sold, multiple JUNO Awards, and a legacy that includes a place in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, they are the perfect band to help us celebrate Canada’s birthday. This free concert will be an unforgettable night of music and culture right here in Summerside. Canada Day is a time for us to come together as a community and celebrate what makes our country special,” added Mayor Kutcher. “We invite everyone to join us on July 1st for an incredible evening of live music and festivities on the beautiful Summerside Waterfront.”
The Canada Day celebrations will feature a diverse All-Canadian lineup, offering a variety of entertainment and activities for all ages. In addition to Blue Rodeo’s highly anticipated performance, the City is expanding its programming and working closely with francophone and multicultural communities to create a diverse and inclusive celebration.
Summerside’s Canada Day event is made possible thanks to the support of the Government of Canada and the Province of Prince Edward Island, whose funding contributions help bring world-class entertainment to the city.
Hon. Zack Bell, Minister of Fisheries, Tourism, Sport and Culture, also expressed his enthusiasm for the event. “We are thrilled to be partnering with the City of Summerside to deliver a Canada Day festival that will attract Islanders and visitors from all over to the Summerside Waterfront. Blue Rodeo’s music has been a defining part of Canadian culture, and this event will be a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate. We look forward to a full day of activities for all ages and an unforgettable evening of music.”
This announcement is part of an exciting Big 4 Days in Summerside, which will kick off with Air Show Atlantic on June 28-29, another major event supported by the Government of PEI. The Canada Day celebrations on July 1 will be the perfect way to wrap up a fantastic weekend of entertainment and community festivities.
Mayor Kutcher also shared his long-term vision for Canada Day in Summerside, emphasizing the goal of growing a homegrown, all-Canadian festival that continues to expand each year. “We’re not just thinking about this year— we’re looking ahead to the future. We want to build on this success by investing in infrastructure, extending the festival length, and attracting even more visitors to make Summerside their go-to Canada Day destination.”
Canada Day planning is still ongoing, and we will be excited to release more information about our new and diverse programming and partnerships in the near future. Stay tuned for further announcements relating to entertainment, activities and more!
