SUMMERSIDE, PE - City Council will be voting on the ATTACHED resolution at the monthly Council meeting on Tuesday, May 21st.
The City is extremely proud of our City Hall and recognizes the Historical significance of the building.
Unfortunately, the Annex portion of the building is no longer safe and through consultation with the Chief Building Official, a mason, and professional engineers, it has been determined that the Annex cannot be repaired due to the serious structural degradation.
The only option is to make an alteration to City Hall and demolish the Annex portion of the building. Council will make a decision regarding potentially rebuilding the Annex, or finding another culturally and historically appropriate use for the land at a later date after consultation with a new Heritage Board, and the broader community.
