SUMMERSIDE, PE - The City of Summerside and its division of Sport Entertainment Tourism Summerside (SETS) proudly announces an exhilarating schedule of five National Championships set to captivate sports enthusiasts in the City of Summerside over the next three years. This unprecedented series of championships promises to bring thrilling competition and a surge of tourism to the Host City on Prince Edward Island.

The action-packed roster kicks off this August with the highly anticipated 2024 21U Women's Baseball Canada National Championship. The event is slated to take place at the picturesque Queen Elizabeth Park, promising an unforgettable experience for players and spectators alike.

City of Summerside Mayor Dan Kutcher expresses his excitement about hosting such prestigious events here in Summerside, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome these National Championships to our beautiful city over the next three years. This lineup of prestigious sporting events not only highlights the exceptional talent of athletes but also solidifies Summerside's position as a premier destination for sports and entertainment. The economic impact, community pride, and the joy these championships will bring to our residents and visitors are immeasurable. “The Host City” of Summerside is ready to showcase its warm hospitality and vibrant community spirit!”.

The championship fever continues into the following year with a triumvirate of curling excellence. In 2025, Summerside will play host to the New Holland Canadian Under-21 Men's and Women's Curling Championship, running consecutively with the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. These back-to-back events are set to transform the city into a hub of curling excitement over 14-days, drawing participants and fans from across the nation.

Nolan Theissen, CEO of Curling Canada, commends Summerside for its commitment to promoting diverse sporting events, stating, "Summerside put together an outstanding bid,” said Thiessen. “We were pleased that we could combine these two events for the first time to give curling fans in Prince Edward Island a superb opportunity to watch our best current and up-and-coming players under one roof. Curling Canada is proud to be a part of Summerside's sports legacy”.

In addition to the curling bonanza, the Ray Carter Cup 15U Baseball Canada National Championship is set to make a triumphant return in both 2025 and 2026. This prestigious championship, named after the late Ray Carter, a prominent figure in Canadian baseball, promises intense competition and showcases the talents of young baseball players in the 15U category with scouts attending from across the nation.

Baseball Canada CEO Jason Dickson expresses his enthusiasm for the city's commitment to hosting high-profile events, stating, "Summerside has consistently demonstrated its dedication to fostering sports and creating a welcoming environment for athletes. The 21U Women's Baseball National Championship is a testament to the city's passion for the game and its ability to host top-tier events."

Sport Entertainment Tourism Summerside invites sports enthusiasts, families, and visitors to be part of this thrilling journey. The championships promise not only unparalleled sportsmanship but also a chance to experience the warmth and hospitality of Summerside, the City By The Sea
