1) CREDIT UNION PLACE - GENERAL

THE OPPORTUNITY

2) FITNESS CLASS INSTRUCTOR, THE FIT STOP

THE OPPORTUNITY:

 

Do you have a love for health and fitness? Do you love working with people, possess a very outgoing personality and work well in a team environment?  We want to meet you!  The City of Summerside’s Fit Stop is now accepting resumes for those interested in employment as a Group Fitness Instructor.  The position is part-time, year round and may include early morning, evenings, weekends and possibly holiday hours.

3)  LIFEGUARD(S)

The City of Summerside is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work as Lifeguard within the Community Services Department. Duties will include all aspects of supervising and maintaining the Aquatic Centre at Credit Union Place. These positions are part time and full time and also may include evening and weekend shifts.

 

Current and up to date National Lifeguard Certificate, a valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate are a definite asset. Lifeguards must be in good physical condition, be of good character, have good communications skills, and be courteous to the public.

4) PART-TIME POLICE/FIRE DISPATCHER (Replacement Position)

 The City of Summerside is receiving applications for a part time Police/Fire Dispatcher. (Replacement Position)

 

Duties

To answer all phone calls for Police and Fire Services, including 911 calls. To attend to the general public through telephone inquiries or personal service. Contact outside agencies and individuals to arrange or cancel appointments and relay information at the request of patrolling members. Respond to requests for support services such as tow trucks, ambulances, fire, public works and other specialized units.  Immediately relay complaint information to Shift Supervisor and discharge such other duties as may be assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Displayed abilities in the operations of computers and telecommunications equipment for data entry and retrieval, a minimum typing speed of 45 words per minute. Must meet and maintain the medical profile standards for the position. Definite assets would be previous training and/or courses in Dispatch Duties/911, being Bilingual [English/French] and experience in the use of PROS, CPIC and Provincial Justice computer systems would be an asset. Must be able to work under extreme pressure, pass security screening and be able to work shift work.

 5) ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN FOREMAN (Replacement Position)

 

This is a very responsible position working within the Municipal Services Electrical Department. As a working foreman of a small group of electricians, you will have a very strong influence on day to day operations.  Electrical Technicians are responsible for carrying out installation, trouble shooting, and maintenance on various electrical equipment throughout the City of Summerside.

Qualifications

  • Have an up-to-date Electrical Journeyman’s License for the Province of PEI.

  • Industrial and / or Instrumentation Journeymen’s License for the Province of PEI would be considered an asset.

  • Capable of working online circuits up to 5000 volts and higher voltage circuits when de-     energized.

  • Capable of learning skills necessary for the following duties: testing demand and energy meters, installing new equipment, re-arranging equipment, trouble shooting and repair of power control circuits, electrical instruments and meters, rotating machinery, sub-station equipment, protective relays, and lighting equipment.

  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to the Electrical Operations Supervisor.

  • Lead the Electrical Technicians in their regular duties and responsibilities with regard to their work as required by the City.

  • Responsible for creating and / or providing completed forms and documentation such as work orders, tail gate safety sheets, procedures, maintenance records and red line drawings.

  • Willing to participate in training programs if required.

  • Willing to learn other job classifications within the Electric Department.

6) DIRECTOR OF FIRE SERVICES (PART-TIME)

The City of Summerside is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Director of Fire Services, more commonly known as Fire Chief. As a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Fire Services plans, administers, and leads all apsects of fire service. The ideal candidate shall have:

 

  • Completed a certified fire service administration program;
  • A track record of continuous, progressive professional development;
  • Extensive experience with the principles, practices, and techniques of modern firefighting, fire prevention and suppression, as well as operational safety;
  • Working knowledge of corporate budgeting principles;
  • Ability to plan and coordinate programs in fire department administration, training, and fire prevention relevant to other municipal departments and the community at large;
  • Demonstrated performance as a team player with proven ability to role model the behaviors needed to promote a positive culture committed to health, wellness and safety;
  • Five (5) years or more of progressive supervisory experience.
