1) GIS / CAD Technician - Replacement Position

 This City of Summerside is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of GIS / CAD Technician.  Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, this is a highly responsible position providing GIS and CAD services for the City.  The GIS / CAD Technician shall be responsible for the development and maintenance of a GIS/database/mapping system for the City.  Work involves considerable contact and maintaining effective working relationships with municipal employees. 

The successful applicant must be able to express ideas effectively orally and in writing and will be required to have extensive knowledge of ArcGIS and AutoCAD, the ability to analyse a variety of technical problems and to make recommendations as to their solution. 

This position is to provide drafting and technical support services to the Technical Services Department staff. It also involves providing computer generated graphic/presentation work for various City Departments. To maintain and update all City maps and plans as required. This position generally works indoors but may also provide surveying and inspection services as required. The GIS / CAD Technician will provide technical assistance to other City Departments, along with the discharge of other duties, responsibilities and functions as may be assigned by the Director of Technical Services. 

Graduation from a post-secondary institution with significant GIS-related coursework, engineering drafting or engineering technology and a minimum of two years’ experience is required.  Experience in the use of ESRI ArcGIS software products, 3D Civil and the Microsoft Office suite of products would be considered an asset.  A valid driver’s license is required.

Rate of pay and benefits will be as per the City of Summerside and CUPE Local 804 Collective Agreement.

2) 
Seasonal Laborers, Community Services

The City of Summerside is creating a list of highly motivated individuals to work as laborers on a seasonal basis within our Community Services Department.  To be considered for this position candidates must have successfully completed grade 12 or equivalent, must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license, should have valid basic First Aid and CPR Certificates, must be in good physical condition, be of good character, and courteous to the public.

Wage: As per Collective Agreement - $18.39/hr

3) Swim Instructor, Community Services Department

The City of Summerside’s Aquatics Department is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals for Swimming Lesson Instructors within the Community Services Department.

Applicants must be fun, outgoing and love working with kids and must have a valid Swim Instructor certificate and an updated Standard First Aid Certificate.

Full Time & Part-time Daytime Lifeguards, Community Services Department

The City of Summerside is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work as Lifeguard within the Community Services Department. Duties will include all aspects of supervising and maintaining the Aquatic Centre at Credit Union Place.

Current National Lifeguard Certificate, a valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate, and WHIMIS 2015 Education are a definite asset but training would also be provided to suitable candidates. Bronze Cross certificate is a requirement and you must be at least 15 years of age to work as a Lifeguard.

Lifeguards must be in good physical condition, be of good character, be able to do admin work, have good communications skills, and be courteous to the public.
